Day 2: Starting the Day at H2H

We got the guys up at 0700 today. After a bit of personal time and a good warm up, we put them through their first CrossFit workout, a sixteen-minute routine consisting of the following body weight elements:

8 Rounds of Pull Ups, 20 sec work / 10 sec rest
8 Rounds of Push Ups, 20 sec work / 10 sec rest
8 Rounds of Sit Ups, 20 sec work / 10 sec rest
8 Rounds of Squats, 20 sec work / 10 sec rest

The goal is to accumulate the highest number of repetitions for all exercises, all rounds. Cadet Gerry won decisively with 424 repetitions. Although this was not a camp record (462 reps from last year), it was an excellent effort.

Why are these cadets smiling? They joined the "club" today... the "I emptied the contents of my stomach violently after the CrossFit workout" club.

Afterwards, we had our traditional H2H breakfast: A protein drink, some fresh fruit, and a spoonful of peanut butter. Moms, don't worry. This is plenty of food to keep them going all morning.

After breakfast, we did some more grappling. This time, we worked on take downs. Specifically, the head & arm throw (or, as I affectionately call it, the "meat hook" throw). Here's a few cadets in action:

Stay tuned - there's plenty more to come from H2H.
